Hello Meg,

I plan to utilize your lesson with my students. I find that it is a good example of the types of things we have been learning in Algebra for All. This lesson provides a great integration opportunity for my students. I feel like it would work very well combined with one of the applets we have access to in the Algebra for All lessons. This lesson shows us true integration of functions. It gives students an opportunity to think about functions in many different ways. I also plan to have to students verbalize to others information about their graphs. When the graphs are on display, I will allow for other students to ask groups questions about their graphing project. Again, thank you very much for this excellent lesson.

This lesson looks like it would work best after students have had time to explore the shapes of algebra function families.  The document contains real world situations that can be modeled by the different function families.  It asks the students to determine the type of function by making tables and graphs.  It asks the students to display their results in poster format.  This lesson is a good lesson to utlize the 8 practices.  I am tagging it as a favorite and will look for a way to incorporate into my Algebra 1 class in the fall.  Thank you for sharing.
