algebra 1 focus, real world application, Dan Meyer 3 Act Model

Students have to find the area of a kitchen floor and decide which tile to use based on tile size and price of the tile.

**Objective:** Students will use problem solving skills to find area and compare price options to tile a floor.

**Standards:** N-Q.1: Use units as a way to understand problems and to guide the solution of multi-step problems; choose and interpret units consistently in formulas.

N-Q.2: Define appropriate quantities for the purpose of descriptive modeling.

N-Q.3: Choose a level of accuracy appropriate to limitations on measurement when reporting quantities.
