If anybody is going for the SBCEU's this time, could you clarify to me what we have to turn in?  I have been going through my folder and have found 2 documents on this.  One is for graduate credit,…Continue

Is it just me or does anybody else think it takes more days to teach a lesson today than it took to teach that same lesson say 5 or more years ago?  I just don't see the lights on in the attic like I…Continue

Most teachers have little control over school policy or curriculum or choice of texts or special placement of students, but most have a great deal of autonomy inside the classroom.  To a degree…Continue

New National Standards

Here is an article about it if you haven't heard about this concept yet. Our school is looking into this already and I am sure that yours is too. More change on the way. I bet you can't wait to alter your teaching again.

Here is an interesting quote from the article:

"Each grade will have fewer goals in each subject area, but each goal goes deeper; the goals are written in plain English with little or no
educational jargon; and some learning goals may start to show up earlier
than expected."

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

We still have a group here! I thought we had gone to a state-wide group and hadn't checked in on D.I.M. yet. Surprise! I saw someone else's post about deleting groups and thought "they're still around?". So....is anyone out there? (I now hear Pink Floyd playing in my head....yikes!)

I did a kinesthetic activity today with my Alg II A students with absolute value graphs. It was quite interesting. They found it a little bit difficult at first, but caught on after a few minutes - they enjoyed it. (and said they got their workout for the day!) I told them we would do it for our daily warm ups tomorrow.

Don't forget to bring your completed student pre-tests with you to the second session! Put the completed Scantron forms in the envelope and bring the tests with you. You will give everything back to the Center staff. Thanks for your help!
