March Session

Our final session in March was a bit of a disappointment for me. I was very excited to get my new equipment to use, but I was disappointed that the conference was ending for the year. I found the materials for the February session to be very useful. I can hardly wait to put them into my class when the time fits. The Activity Sheet for the best function was amazing. I can really see how much better this strategy would be than a non-functional approach. I am truly seeing more and more that this is the way to go with my students.

December Session

Our December session included some great activities that involved comparing linear and exponential data sets. I plan to use all of the material in some form for that unit in my classes. I particularly thought the Lily's Mussels activity could be more local with some information about the Asian Carp species that is about to invade the Great Lakes. January Session

The January session included an activity that I remember seeing somewhere in college, but I have never done with my classes in the same way. I like the open ended type of activity like this that involved many possible strategies for a solution. I also liked that the negative side of the domain was included. I don't think that my Algebra 1 students would understand the negative domain values, but I think it would be better suited for Algebra 2 students.
