I find myself reading the paper quite often. Today was no different as I skimmed the
C & G Journal. I came across an article discussing Chippewa Valley Community Schools interest in following Utica Community Schools direction and eliminate all crossing guard positions. However, this then places the burden of approximately $50,000 onto the local government. I imagine the CVS will eventually follow suit. This begs the question: what is there left to eliminate and or outsource?
I feel that my job as an educator is secure. They cannot possibly eliminate teaching positions. Can they?
I feel that in time (although 'time' may refer to a period of 10 years or more), the conversation of outsourcing teaching positions will become mainstream. With the advancement of educational technology, many will make the case that we as teachers are easily replaceable. We already have summer school programs setup where students spend 8 weeks in front of a computer screen to make up lost credit. This is why, among many other reasons, why you find me interested in A4A Year 2. I want to learn to become the most effective teacher possible. A teacher that can never be replaced.
Odds are everything above will never come to fruition. But maybe it will.
